Based in York, Julie Bailey started her career as a design jeweller working with precious metals, asfter which she specialised in Fine Art Printmaking. She exhibits prints both locally ans internationally, and has been selected for international exhibitions. Julie combines a variety of printmaking techniques in her work, including collograph, dry point, chine-colle, stencils, relief and monotype. Colour is applied to the individual printing plates using oil-based inks which are mixed, layered, rolled, painted, drawn and wiped to complicate and enrich the imagery. Julie adds; 'Like a painter I respond and reflect intuitively to what is happening on the plate or canvas and consider it an extention of the creative thought process'. These compelling and beautiful prints have been created specially for the Indigo Collection.
