Katie Bell is a versatile designer and artist. Born in London, she and works lives between Surrey, UK and Park City, Utah. Studying foundation in Art at Ravensbourne, then a BA (hons) in Graphic Design at The Arts Institute Bournemouth, she went on to have a 20 year career in design.
Working both digitally directly on to computer and with oil pigment sticks, pencil and mixed media on canvas she has rediscovered her love of painting fully in the last few years. With an immediate attraction to colour and free expression Katie’s designs are instinctive. She aims to explore how abstract work can generate visual pleasure. Her vivid, yet simple compositions come from direct feeling and a response to that moment in time. Her wildlife designs focus on a limited two colour palette with influences from Pop Art screen printing.
It was only when Katie started spending seasons in Park City, Utah that she began discovering the joy and contrast of the wildlife and the calming rural landscape there. In her paintings she would not necessarily display naturalistic colours but apply ones that she sees in her mind, or that would contrast well allowing the artwork to emerge in a more abstract way.
She has gained private commissions worldwide and is constantly exploring and developing her style to create appealing art.
