Evelyne Sansot's 'Sand Shadows' were photographed on the Northumberland coast. They examine the graphic relationship between the sand dunes and the marram grass which holds them together. As the grass shadows cut across the sand, they create an ephemeral reality of bold lines, curves and symmetries which change quite obviously through the day, and more imperceptibly through the months, seasons and years. Evelyne explains; 'Created by natural forces and therefore subject to cosmic rythmns, these transient patterns are a detail within a much wider picture, one small part of a universal Zen garden'. Evelyne is currently based in Cheshire, where she works as a freelance photographer and writer.
